Explanation

  1. To achieve self realization or the kingdom of God strivers usually make efforts towards these goals but retain their desire for favourable circumstances, worldly pleasures etc which are prohibited for the strivers. As a result they fail in their goal of self realization. Consequently they do not achieve their objectives.
  2. The striver who is looking for an easy and fast track towards Krishna and wants to attain Him in a hurry he is actually a devotee of pleasure, not a lover of that discipline which can lead him to union with Krishna. He who desires the easy way has to necessarily bear pain and he who wants to attain Him speedily has to endure delays. Because such a desire causes impatience in our practice. He whose determination to achieve Krishna is firm does not set his heart on convenience or speed. He doesn’t care for the obstacles in his path just as a greedy person despite perspiration and hunger, as long as his goods are selling well bears these discomforts easily.
  3. The seeker should also have similar firmness of approach in his practice – his longing for Krishna should be such that he cannot live peacefully, nor can he enjoy food, drink or leisure in the meantime; and in his heart there should be unfailing respect and zeal for his chosen discipline.
  4. What is the practice involved in Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga?
  • Without desiring any specific results from your actions is the practice to be performed for ‘KarmaYoga’ and chanting Krishna’s name, worshipping Him, listening to His transcendental pastimes and loving everyone is the practice in Bhakti Yoga.
  • A Karmayogi working without desiring results is not only superior to one desiring to get some results but is better than even Gyan Yogi’. Hence, Krishna lays special emphasis on Karma yoga.
