Bhagavad Gita 2.22: Verse 22
वासांसि जीर्णानि यथा विहाय
नवानि गृह्णाति नरोऽपराणि ।
तथा शरीराणि विहाय जीर्णा-
न्यन्यानि संयाति नवानि देही ॥2.22॥
भावार्थ - Gist
जैसे मनुष्य पुराने वस्त्रों को त्यागकर दूसरे नए वस्त्रों को ग्रहण करता है, वैसे ही जीवात्मा पुराने शरीरों को त्यागकर दूसरे नए शरीरों को प्राप्त होता है॥2.22॥
The way a man, having discarded worn-out clothes, puts on new clothes, the same way the spirit on death of this body enters into new bodies.
व्याख्या - Explanation
पुराने वस्त्र बदलने में क्या शरीर को दुःख होता है? बिल्कुल नहीं। पर क्या शरीर को बदलने में शरीरी को दुःख होता है? हाँ। इसलिये नहीं, कि नया शरीर मिला, वरन् जीने की इच्छा के कारण।
Does the body feel any pain in changing old clothes? None what so ever. But does the soul feel pain in changing the body? Yes, not because it has got a new body but because of the desire to keep on living.
