Bhagavad Gita 18.67

1) तप के बिना अन्तःकरण में पवित्रता नहीं आती। इसीलिये कृष्ण कहते हैं कि अतपस्वी को यह सर्वगुह्यतम रहस्य नहीं कहना चाहिये। जो सहनशील नहीं है, वह भी अतपस्वी है।
2) जो भक्ति से रहित है अर्थात् जिसका कृष्ण पर भरोसा नहीं है, उसे भी यह बात मत कहना, क्योंकि श्रद्धा न होने से विपरीत धारणा हो सकती है कि ‘कृष्ण आत्मश्लाघी, स्वार्थी हैं और दूसरों को वश में करना चाहते हैं।’ इन दुर्भावों के कारण वह अपना पतन कर लेगा, इसलिये ऐसे अभक्त को कभी नहीं कहना है।
3) जो इस रहस्य को सुनना नहीं चाहता, उसे भी मत कहना, क्योंकि ऐसी दशा में वह इसका तिरस्कार करेगा। यह भी उसके द्वारा एक अपराध होगा।
4) जो मुझमें दोषारोपण करता है, उसको भी मत सुनाना, क्योंकि उसका अन्तःकरण मलिन है।
कृष्ण ने अभक्त और दोष दृष्टिवाले को सर्वगुह्यतम वचन न कहने पर विशेष जोर दिया है। अतपस्वी और न सुनने वाले को कहने में दोष उतना नहीं है, क्योंकि अभक्त और दोष दृष्टि वाले की विपरीत बुद्धि है।

1. Unless a person performs austerities, his inner self does not attain purity. This is the reason why Krishna says that this ultimate confidential knowledge should not be communicated to the person not performing austerities. Austerity is also a quality of mind; if a person lives his whole life with self-management and patience, he is performing austerity (tapa).
2. The one who is lacking in faith and devotion towards Krishna, also must not be given this secret message, because the reaction of that person may be hostile and aggressive, expressing criticism of Krishna for singing His own praises, trying to control everyone, and so on. By these evil thoughts he will bring about his own downfall, so Krishna warns in advance that he should never be told this secret.
3. Neither should this secret be revealed to the one who is unwilling to listen, because he will in his ignorance discard it, thus bringing guilt upon himself.
4. Do not reveal it to the person who criticizes and condemns Me, because his mind is impure.
5. Krishna has laid more emphasis on not revealing His secretmost message to the person who lacks devotion and the one who finds faults in Krishna.
6. It does not matter so much if it is revealed to the non-austere or unwilling person, but the non-devotee and the critic of Krishna must never be told this, since their mind and intellect are perverse.
